Master Chief Robert A. Eidson

Master Chief Aviation Ordnanceman Robert A. Eidson enlisted in the U.S. Navy in October 1995.  Following boot camp graduation, he completed aviation ordnanceman “A” school at Naval Air Technical Training Center in Millington, Tennessee.  

His sea assignments include Sea Control Squadron(VS) 30 at Naval Air Station (NAS) Cecil Field, Florida, where he completed three deployments on USS Enterprise (CVN 65), USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) and USS George Washington (CVN 73); quality assurance night check supervisor and ordnance leading petty officer (LPO) on VS 31 while deployed with Carrier Air Wing 7 and CVN 73; bomb assembly division production chief petty officer (CPO) and the ship’s armory division LCPO onboard CVN 73; Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Detachment (AIMD) quality assurance supervisor, AIMD IM-3 Division LCPO and the G-5 ordnance control LCPO on CVN 71; and weapons department LCPO CVN 69, completing back to back deployments, including 206 consecutive days at sea at the height of the coronavirus pandemic, operating in the North Arabian Sea in support of Operations Inherent Resolve and Freedom’s Sentinel.

His shore assignments include: Sea Control Weapons School (SCWS); Fleet Readiness Center Mid-Atlantic (FRCMA) Oceana, where he worked as the RADAR Branch CPO, 700 Division production control CPO, and 700 Division LCPO; and Navy Munitions Command Atlantic Detachment Oceana as the senior enlisted leader.

Eidson currently serves as the senior enlisted leader for Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit Oceana at Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia.

His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), and the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards).
