Captain Christopher M. Kurgan

Capt. Christopher Kurgan graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and was commissioned through the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps program in 1990.
 
He earned a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 2001 and completed the Executive Training Program, Kellogg School at Northwestern University in 2012.
 
He previously commanded Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 133 and Naval Construction Group 1, and Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC), Northwest.
 
His early expeditionary tours included assignments with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 74, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 4, and director of Construction Southeast Asia where he deployed multiple times in direct support of global war on terrorism operations.
 
His staff assignments include deputy commander for operations, NAVFAC Pacific, Pearl Harbor; Guam program management officer, NAVFAC Pacific, Pearl Harbor; operations officer, NAVFAC Europe, Africa and Southwest Asia, Naples; future operations officer, 1st Naval Construction Division; public works officer, Presidential Retreat, Camp David; senior assistant resident officer in charge, Construction Contracts Ventura County; and command adjutant, Civil Engineer Corps Officers School.
 
He is a Seabee Combat Warfare Officer, registered professional engineer in the state of Ohio, and a member of the acquisition professional community.
 
Kurgan has been blessed to serve with winning teams throughout his career that have earned numerous campaign, unit, and battle efficiency awards. He is the privileged recipient of the 2004 Admiral Ben Moreell Medal.
