Commander Weurielus D. Johnson

Cmdr. Weurielus “Trey” Johnson enlisted in the Navy in 1994 and served as a nuclear power machinist mate before being selected for a commissioning program in 1997. He received his commission in 2002 after graduating from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He earned a Master of Science degree in Construction Engineering and Management from Leland Stanford Jr University in 2013.

Johnson’s operational tours include an enlisted tour aboard USS Henry M. Jackson (SSBN-730) (Gold); headquarters company commander, Task Force Sierra Detail 4 officer-in-charge, bravo company commander, and assistant operations officer for U.S. Naval Mobile Construction Battalion One; and operations officer for U.S. Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Three. He also completed an individual augmentee deployment to Afghanistan as an embedded training team advisor-engineering in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
 
Ashore, Johnson’s assignments include facilities operations officer for Naval Weapons Station Yorktown; assistant resident officer in charge of construction at Naval Support Activity Philadelphia and Philadelphia Naval Business Center; executive assistant to commander for Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Pacific; assistant public works officer at Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam; assistant operations officer at NAVFAC Hawaii; resident officer in charge of construction for Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California; assistant chief of staff-plans at Navy Expeditionary Combat Command, Pacific; Installations and Logistics deputy director and facilities director of Marine Corps Base Hawaii; and executive officer of Naval Construction Battalion Center Gulfport.
 
Johnson assumed command of Naval Construction Training Center Gulfport in June 2022.
 
Johnson is a registered Professional Engineer, a certified Project Management Professional, a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps and is Seabee Combat Warfare qualified. His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, and Army Commendation Medal as well as several other unit and campaign awards.
