Commander Jessica L. Morera

Cmdr. Jessica Morera is a native of San Diego, California. She graduated from Duke University earning a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Policy. She holds a Master of Arts in Organizational Management from George Washington University and Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College. She was commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps. 

Morera’s sea duty assignments include anti-submarine warfare officer, USS Lassen (DDG 82); training and readiness officer, Commander, Destroyer Squadron 23; weapons and combat systems officer, USS Milius (DDG 69); and executive officer, USS Sterett (DDG 104). 

Ashore, she participated in the D.C. intern program; served as deputy executive assistant, Chief of Naval Personnel; chief strategist, Deputy Chief of Naval Operations (Manpower, Personnel, Training and Education); ballistic missile defense policy lead, Deputy Chief of Naval Operations (Operations, Plans and Strategy); and supported fleet certifications, Commander, U.S. 3rd Fleet. 

Morera is the recipient of the Winifred Quick Collins Award for Inspirational Leadership. Her personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), and various unit, campaign, and service awards.
