Captain Everett M. Alcorn

Capt. Everett Alcorn, a native of Manassas, Va., graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a degree in Computer Science in 1998.  Following flight training in Pensacola, Florida, he was designated a naval aviator in 2000. Alcorn received his master's degree in business administration from the Naval Postgraduate School in 2006, completed Command and General Staff College at Marine Corps University in 2013, and is a 2021 Graduate of the NATO Defense College.

His operational assignments include tours with Helicopter Combat Support Squadron Six (HC-6), USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74) and Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Eleven (HS-11). He commanded Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron Two Eight (HSC-28). During these tours, Alcorn completed seven deployments aboard the USS SEATTLE (AOE 3), USS MOUNT WHITNEY (LCC 20), USS NASSAU (LHA 4), USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74), and USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65). During those deployments, he participated in Operations Iraqi Freedom, New Dawn, and Enduring Freedom. Additionally, he embarked on USS IWO JIMA (LHD 4) w/ JTF MATTHEW and flew humanitarian support missions in Haiti after Hurricane Matthew.  He has flown over 2,800 flight hours, in the CH-46D, SH-60F, HH-60H, and MH-60S.

Capt. Alcorn's shore assignments include tours as a Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) instructor pilot and Search and Rescue Model Manager SAR Evaluator at Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron Three (HSC-3), and as a liaison officer for Helicopter Sea Combat Wing Atlantic to Naval Forces Central Command in Manama, Bahrain.  He also served as the Deputy Division Chief of the Research Analysis and Posture Planning Branch in the Plans Policy, Strategy and Capabilities Directorate at U.S. European Command in Stuttgart, Germany.

He currently serves as a Military Professor in the National Security Affairs Department at the U.S. Naval War College.

Capt. Alcorn’s personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals as well as numerous campaign and unit awards.
