Command Master Chief Richard S. Garrison

Master Chief Machinist's Mate (Non-Nuclear, Submarine Auxiliary) Garrison, a native of Wyckoff, New Jersey, enlisted in the U. S. Navy in July 1994. Following boot camp at Recruit Training Command, in Orlando, Florida, he attended basic enlisted submarine school and machinist’s mate auxiliary “A” school, Naval Submarine School Groton, Connecticut. He is a graduate of the United States Navy Senior Enlisted Academy and earned an Associate in Applied Science in Technical Studies from Excelsior College.

At sea, Garrison reported for duty as auxiliaryman aboard USS Parche (SSN 683); maintenance and material management coordinator aboard USS Topeka (SSN 754); as auxiliary division leading chief petty officer aboard USS Albuquerque (SSN 706); and as chief of the boat aboard USS Annapolis (SSN 760). 

Garrison’s shore assignments included service as an instructor at Submarine Training Facility, San Diego; squadron auxiliary aboard Commander Submarine Squadron 11; senior enlisted leader at Submarine Learning Center Detachment San Diego, and command master chief of Submarine Learning Facility, Norfolk.

He is currently serving as command master chief, Submarine Training Facility San Diego.

His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (eight awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
