Captain Jeffrey Lamphear

Capt. Jeff Lamphear, a native of Livonia, Michigan, received his commission through the Nuclear Enlisted Commissioning Program after completing a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Mechanics at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. 

At sea, he served as division officer aboard USS Pittsburgh (SSN 720); as engineer officer aboard USS Topeka (SSN 754); as executive officer of USS Norfolk (SSN 714); and as commanding officer of USS Helena (SSN 725). 

Lamphear’s shore tours include sea combat commander watch officer and planner for Destroyer Squadron 15; operations officer for Carrier Strike Group 10; squadron engineer for Submarine Squadron 4; concepts action officer for Navy Warfare Development Command; and advanced programs branch chief in the J-8 directorate, U.S. Strategic Command. 

He is currently serving as commanding officer of Trident Training Facility Kings Bay, Georgia.  

Lamphear’s personal awards include the Meritorious Unit Commendation, and he is the recipient of the Naval Submarine League’s Vice Admiral Charles A. Lockwood Award for Submarine Professional Excellence and the Navy League Award in 2005.
