Command Master Chief Hugh J. Rape

Master Chief Hugh Rape, a native of Lake Placid, Florida, graduated from Lake Placid High School in 1989.  He entered the U.S. Navy in 1995, attending basic training at Recruit Training Command in Orlando, Florida. Rape was promoted to Chief in September 2006. He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 169) and the Command Master Chief/chief of the boat (CMC/COB) course (Class 136) in Newport, Rhode Island.

His duty assignments include: Operations Specialist "A" School in Virginia Beach, Virginia; Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 3 in Port Hueneme, California; USNS Pecos (T-AO 197) in San Diego, California; Assault Craft Unit 5 in  San Diego; Detachment Western Pacific (WESTPAC) Alpha Assault Craft Unit 5 (ACU-5) in Sasebo, Japan; Commander Joint Two Protective Security Detail in Baghdad, Iraq; Training Support Center in Hampton Roads, Virginia Beach; Assault Craft Unit 4 in Little Creek, Virginia; Navy Personal Command in Millington, Tennessee; USS Gettysburg (CG 64) in Norfolk, Virginia; and Mine Division 22 in Mayport, Florida.

Rape is Enlisted Surface Warfare and Seabee Combat Warfare qualified. He has completed eight deployments to various countries.

His personal awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Commendation and various campaign and unit awards.
