Commander Kyle Caldwell

Cmdr. Caldwell enlisted in the U.S. Navy in October 1990. After promotion to chief petty officer in 1999, he was commissioned as a limited duty officer in 2001. Caldwell is a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a degree in Aerospace Engineering and earned his postgraduate degree with distinction from Florida Institute of Technology in DoD Acquisitions and Contracts Management. He studied French at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, and he completed his Joint Professional Military Education Phase I with the Naval War College in 2019.
 
His enlisted assignments included USS Constellation (CV 64), Navy Recruiting District Richmond, Virginia, and USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75).
 
As an officer at sea, he served as the aircraft launch and recovery equipment maintenance officer aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) and USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76); as a personnel exchange program officer for aircraft carrier flight deck operations aboard the French aircraft carrier FS Charles de Gaulle (R 91) homeported at Toulon, France; and as the aircraft handling officer aboard USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), completing a historic 9.5 month combat deployment participating in Operation Inherent Resolve, the fight against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.
 
Ashore, his assignments include the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training (CNATT) Detachment in Lakehurst, New Jersey as training officer; Naval Air Systems Command Program Executive Office (Tactical) PMA 251 as fleet liaison officer; and Naval Air Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet as the force air systems officer.
 
In August 2018, he reported as executive officer at CNATT Unit (CNATTU) North Island, California. Currently, Caldwell serves as the commanding officer, CNATTU North Island.
 
Caldwell’s personal awards include the Navy Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (eight awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), French Commendation Medal and various service campaign medals and ribbons. He also received the USS Ronald Reagan’s Leadership Award in 2004 and USS Carl Vinson’s Leadership Award in 2014.
 
As a member of the Acquisition Corps Team, he holds Level II Certifications in Life Cycle Logistics and Program Management.
