Commander Mark E. Demaree

Cmdr. Mark Demaree, a native of Gaylord, Michigan, enlisted in the Navy in 1995 as an aviation structural mechanic (hydraulics) and advanced through the ranks to aviation structural mechanic chief. He commissioned through the Limited Duty Officer program in 2006. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management in 2012 from the University of La Verne.

His operational assignments include aviation structural mechanic, IM-1/2/3 division officer, quality assurance officer, material control officer, maintenance material control officer, assistant maintenance officer and Carrier Air Wing maintenance officer for Helicopter Combat Support Squadron (HC) 5; USS Wasp (LHD 1); Airborne Command & Control Squadron (VAW) 113; Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 37; and Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 1. During these tours, he participated in multiple campaigns including Operation Sea Dragon, Operation Inherent Resolve, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

Ashore, he served as aviation structural mechanic, recruit division commander, aircraft division officer, maintenance material control officer, air speed officer, readiness officer, fleet support equipment officer, staff executive officer, assistant maintenance operation center director for Helicopter Anti-Submarine Light Squadron (HSL) 41; Recruit Training Command Great Lakes; Fleet Readiness Center Southwest Detachment Point Mugu; Commander Strike Fighter Wing Atlantic; and Commander Naval Air Force Atlantic. Demaree then served as executive officer at the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit (CNATTU) Norfolk.

He began serving as commanding officer at CNATTU Norfolk in January 2024.

Demaree earned the professional aviation maintenance officer, enlisted aviation warfare, enlisted surface warfare and master training specialist designations. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (seven awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (nine awards), Good Conduct Medal (four awards) and various unit, campaign and service awards.
