PORT HUENEME, Calif. (Oct. 29, 2021) Capt. Peter Maculan, commanding officer of Center for Seabees and Facilities Engineering and the Naval Civil Engineer Corps Officers School (CECOS), addresses graduates of CECOS Basic Class 271 during ceremony. Thirty-three U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps (CEC) students completed the 15-week-long CEC Basic Qualification Course, which covers a wide range of topics, including leadership, professional development, public works, construction technology, contracting, expeditionary construction, and combat operations. New CEC officers complete the course before reporting to initial assignments as public works officers and construction managers at Navy and Marine Corps installations or as platoon commanders and staff officers in the Naval Construction Force.
