Congratulations on your orders to Center for Information Warfare Training Site Goodfellow AFB, TX! I extend a warm welcome aboard from the Navy Community here at Goodfellow. Our Command mission is to provide various cryptologic and fire fighting joint training to Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines. a. Checking in:

During working hours (8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday-Friday): Report to the Navy Administrative Support building (Bldg 420) in uniform of the day. Bring your service record, last two regular evals, transfer eval, and medical/dental records. Call (325) 654-3574/5500 for further information.

After working hours (Weekends and Holidays): Call the Officer of the Deck at (325) 656-8760.

Aviation Boatswains Mate (Handling) Students: Ensure you have completed NFPA 1582 (Medical Requirements for Fire Fighters). Failure to obtain NEC 7012 could result in loss of permanent orders to ultimate duty station.

Cryptologic students: You are required to complete a polygraph examination prior to detaching from your present command. Polygraphs are not available at this site. If unable to obtain polygraph prior to arrival, contact this command. If your SSBI date is greater than 4.5 years old, ensure a PR is submitted to your servicing SSO as soon as possible. If you report to this command with an expired SSBI or without a completed polygraph, your training will be delayed, and in some cases, result in cancellation of school and change in orders.

Ensure strict compliance with report no earlier than (NET) date on your orders, as per diem cannot start prior to this date.

b. Reservations:

Please call the Angelo Inn at (325) 659-5000 to make billeting reservations.

c. Uniform Note:

Goodfellow AFB is located in Navy Region Southeast. The winter uniform period commences on the first Monday in November. The summer uniform period commences on the first Monday in April.

d. Additional Information:

Minimize express/household goods shipments. BEQ rooms are relatively small and all necessities are provided. Cooking appliances are PROHIBITED in the BEQ. Maid service, towels, and sheets are provided.

Organized Physical Training is conducted three times a week at a minimum. BCA will be conducted within one week of arrival. Be ready.

Read your orders. If required, get all polygraphs, over-seas screenings, physical exams, and special screenings completed prior to arrival.

It is very hot here in the summer and cold and windy in the winter. Be sure to bring the appropriate civilian attire.

If traveling by POV, make frequent rest stops, buckle up, and watch out for the wildlife, especially the deer.

Located in the southwestern part of Texas, San Angelo has a wealth of history and historical sites. The city of San Antonio is located three and a half hours South of San Angelo. You will have many opportunities to visit and enjoy the Alamo, Fiesta Texas, Slitterbaughn and Sea World located in San Antonio or visit the zoo and shop in Abilene. There is a small local mall and AAFES Base Exchange, Commissary, Bank, credit unions, post office, chapels and many other facilities. Whatever your interest, crafts, sports, or movies, all are available here.

You will be required to check in with the Angelo Inn if staying in TLF. You are required to check in with original orders to the Navy Detachment located in building 420, MON-FRI, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Cryptologic instructors are required to complete a polygraph examination prior to detaching from your present command. Polygraphs are not available at this site. If unable to obtain polygraph prior to arrival contact this command upon notification of this message. If your SSBI date is greater than 4.5 years old, ensure a PR is submitted to your servicing SSO as soon as possible. Members reporting to the command with an expired SSBI or without a polygraph will delay ability to begin instructor duty, or in some cases prevent member from fulfilling duties altogether.

To request a sponsor call (325) 654-3184 or DSN 477-3184. Please help us by keeping your sponsor up to date on your travel plans. This will enable your sponsor to greet you upon arrival and help you with the check-in process.
