Officer in Charge

Chief Warrant Officer Aris McKenzie, a native of Mobile, Alabama, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1990. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command Orlando, Florida, she graduated from Aviation Electrician’s Mate “A” school in Millington, Tennessee. She promoted through the ranks to chief petty officer before being commissioned through the Chief Warrant Officer Program in 2010. She completed a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Saint Leo University.

McKenzie served as a plane captain in the Line Division with Fighter Squadron (VF) 43; electrical branch technician with Strike Fighter (VFA) 94; electrical branch shift supervisor with Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 37; electrical branch leading petty officer with Strike Fighter (VFA) 106 E/F Det.; Line Division leading chief petty officer with Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 15; avionics and aircraft division officer with Carrier Early Warning Squadron (VAW) 120; and assistant maintenance officer with Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 51. McKenzie completed numerous deployments including one in support of combat operations during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Ashore McKenzie served as an F/A-18 electrical/instrumental instructor at Naval Air Maintenance Training Group Det. and qualified as a Master Training Specialist.

Her personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards) and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards). She was named the VAW-120 Aviation Ground Officer of the Year in 2013 and the HSM-51 Aviation Ground Officer of the Year in 2016. She was also designated an enlisted specialist in aviation and surface warfare.
