Command Officer

A native of Basking Ridge, New Jersey, Commander Knapp graduated from the State University of New York Maritime College in New York City with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. He also holds a master's degree in Meteorology and Physical Oceanography from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.

At sea, CDR Knapp served in various operations and engineering assignments aboard USS Trenton (LPD 14), USS Whirlwind (PC 11), Amphibious Squadron SIX (embarked on LHD 3), USS Ashland (LSD 48), Amphibious Squadron Seven (embarked on LHD 6) and USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69), participating in numerous exercises, overseas deployments and national missions.

Ashore, he served as a steam engineering instructor at Surface Warfare Officers School Command in Newport, Rhode Island and at Fleet Weather Center, Norfolk as the Strike Group Oceanography Team Department Head and the Operations Department Head.

On 2 November 2015, CDR Knapp assumed duties as the Executive Officer at Fleet Weather Center, Norfolk, Virginia.

CDR Knapp assumed duties as CNATTU Keesler commanding officer in October 2016.

His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

Executive Officer

A native of Onalaska, Washington, Lt. Cmdr. Christopher J. Roberts is a 2000 graduate from the University of the State of New York - Regents College with a Bachelor of Science degree. He was commissioned through Officer Candidate School (OCS) and designated as a Naval Flight Officer in December 2001. He also holds a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon.

Roberts flew in the F-14 Tomcat and was assigned to the Fighting Black Lions of Fighter Squadron 213 (VFA-213), embarked aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71). He served as deputy operations officer Joint Task Force Paladin in Bagram, Afghanistan; Officer-in-Charge, Military History Detachment, U. S. Forces Afghanistan-South in Kandahar, Afghanistan; and senior watch officer, Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG) 5 at Naval Support Activity Bahrain.

Roberts has served ashore as an instructor with the Sabrehawks (VT-86), Director of Aviation, Commanding Officer Training at Naval Aviation Schools Command, and as Officer-in-Charge, Commander, Pacific Fleet Maritime Homeland Defense Detachment Pacific Northwest.

He assumed the duties of Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training (CNATT) Unit Keesler Executive Officer in November 2016.

Roberts has logged 186 arrested landings and more than 1,500 flight hours in various Navy aircraft. His personal decorations include the Strike/Flight Air Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal and numerous service and campaign awards.
