PURPOSE:
To produce sailors with the basic job skills and knowledge, which will enable them to perform satisfactorily under limited supervision in any air capable ship/squadron environment, reinforce tasks they will be performing, and to foster an identification in the aviation community with a feeling of belonging to a professional organization. Additionally, these students receive the Shipboard Aircraft Firefighting one day course.
SCOPE:
Instruction includes: Knowledge of Aviation ratings; Knowledge of Naval A/C and Designations System; A/C familiarization; Knowledge of Naval Occupational Safety and Health Programs/HAZMAT-HAZWASTE; Knowledge of Aviation Fuels and Fluids; Knowledge of Aircraft Integrity watches; Knowledge of handtools and lockwiring procedures; Perform lockwiring procedures; Knowledge of Flight Deck Geography and Functions/Responsibilities of Flight Deck Personnel; Knowledge of Flight Deck PPE and Helicopter Rescue; Perform Flight Deck PPE Inspection Procedures; Knowledge of Aviation Support Equipment; Knowledge of Line OPS and Safety; Knowledge of A/C Handling and A/C Handling Signals; Knowledge of Personnel Qualifications Standards(PQS); Perform A/C Handling Procedures; Knowledge of A/C Fire Fighting; Perform A/C Fire Fighting.
