PURPOSE:
The Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment Officer course is designed to train selected officers to perform the duties of catapult and arresting gear officer on board aircraft carriers. This course will enable the students, upon graduation and attaining PQS qualification, to safely perform operations of the catapult and arresting gear equipment without supervision during actual flight operations in accordance with applicable operation manuals.
SCOPE:
Course covers basic hydraulics, catapult & arresting gear wire rope and fittings, and electrical devices. Familiarization with steam catapults, arresting gear and Visual Landing Aids Systems. Detailed instruction in Aircraft Launch & Recovery Bulletins, Computation, and performing aircraft launching procedures using Aircraft 11F12 training simulator.
