PURPOSE:
To train USN Aviation Structural Mechanics (Structures), and Marines MOS 6092 (E4 through E6), to perform aircraft nondestructive inspections, without direct supervision, afloat and ashore under all readiness conditions.
SCOPE:
Curriculum includes: theory, principles, and performance of: liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, eddy current, ultrasonic, radiographic, and composite material NDI methods; theory, principles, and application of: optical inspection equipment, gaseous leak detection equipment, magnetic rubber, electrical conductivity measurement equipment, hardness testing, ultrasonic leak detection equipment, and radiation safety procedures. The course stresses compliance with current NDI publications, specifications, responsibilities and radiation safety.
PREREQUISITES:
ASVAB=Minimum GCT/ARI or WK/AR combination of 105 (Navy) or 55 (USMC). No waivers for USN or USMC. and

OTHER=Three years minimum time in service. All personnel must complete a preplacement radiation medical examination as prescribed by NAVMED P-5055, Chapter 2. This examination will include as a minimum: medical history, (Par. 2-4 (2)(a)), thorough physical examination, complete blood line study, and urinalysis. Adhere to strict compliance with the above examinations/studies (no waivers). Medical personnel will enter a statement of qualification in each prospective trainees medical record prior to transfer to this course. WE WILL DENY TRAINING TO PERSONNEL WITHOUT APPROPRIATE RECORDS AND PROPER ENTRIES. and
