PURPOSE:
The Optical Landing System Maintenance course is designed to train Interior Communications Electrician personnel, E1 through E8 and DOD civilian employees to operate, maintain, fault isolate and repair the Fresnel Lens Optical Landing System MK 6 MOD 3, the Manually Operated Visual Landing Aid System MK 1 MOD 2 and the Heads-Up display MK 1 MOD 0, aboard aircraft carriers, under all conditions.
SCOPE:
The course structure consists of the MK 6 MOD 3 Fresnel Lens Optical Landing Systems (FLOLS), MK 1 MOD 2 Manually Operated Visual Landing Aid System (MOVLAS), and the MK 1 MOD 0 Landing Signal Officer Heads-Up Display (LSO HUD) System. This course will cover electrical circuits and devices within each system and emphasize instruction pertinent to state-of-the-art modifications unique to the Carrier Landing Aid Stabilization System (CLASS).
PREREQUISITES:
OTHER=Normal color perception as measured by FALANT Test. Graduate of Interior Communication Electrician Class "A" School or one year on the job training (OJT). and
