PURPOSE:
To provide selected personnel of the ABH rating (career designated E-4 or E-5 through E-9) with the specialized skills and knowledge necessary to meet the requirements of the Navy Enlisted Classification (NEC) AB-7011. Holders of the NEC will become the identified supervisors and provides a leadership role during shipboard or shorebased aircraft firefighting and salvage operations. This course will also provide supervisory skills in shipboard administration and aircraft handling.
SCOPE:
This course provides specialized skills and knowledge necessary to meet the requirements of the Navy Enlisted Classification (NEC) AB-7011, and to provide trained supervisors in aircraft firefighting and salvage operations, shipboard administration and aircraft handling. This course consists of instructions in theory of fire, extinguishing agents, portable fire extinguishers, aircraft familiarization, aircraft ordnance, hazardous materials in aircraft, aircraft egress system familiarization, hand and arm signals, twinagent unit familiarization, aircraft salvage equipment familiarization, aircraft salvage procedures, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), standard first aid, shipboard crash and salvage team organization/responsibilities, twinned agent unit (H2) familiarization, mobile firefighting vehicle driver refresher training, flight deck firefighting tactics, flight deck firefighting fire drills, mass conflagration fire drills, aircraft salvage equipment familiarization (shipboard), aircraft salvage procedures (shipboard), aircraft salvage drills (shipboard), maintenance and material management system (3M), planned maintenance system (PMS), maintenance and material management system preparation and forms documentation, ships material readiness, administration management (filing system), administration management(correspondence and messages), administration management (technical publications library), personnel qualification standards (PQS), divisional training program, supply system, requisition procedures, optar funding, A/S32A-31 (MD-3) tow tractor, spotting dolly, general aircraft handling equipment, aircraft handling aboard carriers, shipboard helicopter operations, flight/hangar deck safety, and aircraft towing operations.
