SHIP'S CONTROL TEAM TRAINER

The emergency ship control team trainer is configured as a nuclear submarine ship control room area mounted on a hydraulically powered motion system. Computer generated surface effects, near surface effects, wave action, and bathythermal effects simulate at sea ship operations.

Ship's Control Trainer

COMBAT CONTROL SYSTEM TEAM TRAINER

The combat control system team trainer emulates the fire control system installed in attack submarines. Submarine crews use the trainer to exercise their team skills in surface and submerged contacts tracking , tactical decision making, and weapons control. The trainer is driven by powerful and sophisticated simulation software which allows a variety of submarine classes to utilize the trainer.

Attack Center

SONAR OCEAN ACOUSTIC TRAINER

The sonar ocean acoustic trainer aids submarine sonar operators in honing their skills. The trainer operates in two training modes, standalone and team. The trainer in standalone mode operates independently. The team training mode couples the sonar ocean acoustic trainer with the combat control system team trainer.

Sonar Trainer

SUBMARINE PILOTING AND NAVIGATION TRAINER

The submarine piloting and navigational trainer (SPAN) provides responsive training for submarine piloting parties. Real-time simulation is provided for piloting and radar navigation of ports frequently visited by submarines. The SPAN trainer can create a variety of weather, tidal, current, and marine traffic conditions for each port as well as open ocean navigation scenarios.

SPAN Trainer

DAMAGE CONTROL TEAM TRAINER

The submarine damage control team trainer provides a submarine engine room environment in which ship damage in the form of piping failures is simulated. The simulation is accomplished by pumping fresh water through piping systems which have pre-drilled holes strategically located. The piping leaks represent various failures that could occur.

Fire Fighting

FIRE FIGHTING TEAM TRAINER

The fire fighting team trainer can simulate the types of fires most likely to be experienced in a submarine engine room. The fires are computer controlled to realistically respond to attempts at extinguishing the flames.

Other major equipment installed include:

Diesel Generator

DIESEL IS APART

Oxygen Generator (6L16)

A4W FIDE at NASNI

Fourth generation Westinghouse Aircraft Carrier Propulsion Plant (A4W) Fleet Interactive Display Equipment (IDE) Training Simulator at Naval Air Station North Island (NASNI). The NIMITZ Class Fleet IDE is a full scale, state-of-the-art, interactive simulator of a NIMITZ Class aircraft carrier’s Enclosed Operating Station (EOS). The IDE will provide operators with a realistic, real-time depiction of actual EOS conditions covering the full range of normal operational and simulated casualty situations. The A4W Fleet IDE training simulator allows EOS operators to remain proficient on their qualifications.
