Reverse Sponsorship Program

The Reverse Sponsorship Program encourages commands to send "Welcome Aboard Packages," letters, e-mails, and phone calls to students. The program is committed to providing timely responses to all inquiries regarding Sailors reporting to the Fleet.

Training Support Center is the optimum location for gaining commands to make contact with Sailors reporting from Great Lakes.

Along with commands contacting Sailors at Great Lakes, TSC's reverse sponsorship program requires students to e-mail gaining commands as part of a homework assignment.

TSC also updates the latest Fleet information to help students better prepare for their next duty station using Fleet web pages and Fleet Family Service Center assistance through SITES information. Off-site link.

All recommendations and suggestions to improve this process are welcomed.

In partnership with the Fleet, the goal of the Reverse Sponsorship Program at TSC is for receiving commands to contact all of their Sailors.

By Airplane
All major airlines serve O'Hare International Airport, which is located about 30 miles southwest of Great Lakes. Ground transportation is available from O'Hare to Great Lakes.

Taxi and limousine service are both available from O'Hare at all hours, with limousine service costing $40-$60, and taxis considerably more. However, military personnel need to remember that PCS/TAD personnel will be reimbursed for taxi fare only when no bus service was available and only if a receipt is provided.

1. Start out going Southwest towards TERMINAL RETURN/AIRPORT EXIT by turning right. 1.0 miles
2. COMMERCIAL VEHICLES becomes TERMINAL RETURN/AIRPORT EXIT. 0.1 miles
3. Take the I-190 EAST ramp towards CHICAGO LOOP. 0.3 miles
4. Merge onto I-190 E. 1.6 miles
5. Take the I-294 NORTH exit, exit number 1C, towards MILWAUKEE/ROCKFORD(I-90 W). 0.2 miles
6. Merge onto I-294 N (Portions toll). 12.9 miles
7. Take I-94 W (Portions toll). 10.9 miles
8. Take the IL-137/BUCKLEY RD exit. 0.2 miles
9. Turn RIGHT onto BUCKLEY RD/IL-137. 2.9 miles
10. Follow BUCKLEY RD/IL-137 until it ends
11. Turn RIGHT onto MAIN ST/SHERIDAN RD
12. Main gate will be next RIGHT
13. Main Gate ask security for the location of building 3, Training Support Center headquarter.
14. Once at building 3 go to quarter deck for Check-in. If lost or need assistance please call the quarter deck at (847) 688-3536.
