Sergeant Major T.D. Nicholson

Sgt. Maj. T.D. Nicholson enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1995 and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina. Upon completion of recruit training as an honor graduate, she graduated as honor graduate from Communications School in Twentynine Palms, California, and was then assigned to Marine Corps Forces Reserves in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Nicholson’s tours of duty include: 7th Communication Battalion, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Okinawa, Japan, where she served as the Information Systems Management Operator Noncommissioned Officer in Charge (NCO) and the Battalion’s training chief; Marine Forces Atlantic in Norfolk, Virginia for duty as the Defense Message Center NCO, and later as the Electronic Key Management System’s NCO. After a change in her Military Occupational Specialty to Career Planner, she served as the Career Retention Specialist for Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station, Iwakuni, Japan; Training and Education Command, Quantico Virginia, where she would major in Psychology at the University of Maryland, University College in Adelphi, Maryland; Headquarters Battalion, Marine Corps Base, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, and served as the Substance Abuse Control Officer, Equal Opportunity Representative, Uniform Victim Advocate, Casualty Assistance Calls Officer and Suicide Awareness Counselor for the Family Advocacy Program; Combat Logistics Regiment 25, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where she served as the Regimental Career Retention Specialist; 2nd Maintenance Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, where she deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom; 8th Communication Battalion, Bravo Company, Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, as the First Sergeant, subsequently deploying in support of Operation Enduring Freedom with Alpha Company; Marine Corps Detachment, Weapons Training Battalion, Training Command, Fort Lee, Virginia, to serve as Bravo Company’s First Sergeant; Quantico, Virginia; 1st Law Enforcement Battalion (1stLEBn), I Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group, to serve as Bravo Company’s First Sergeant and later, 1stLEBn Headquarters First Sergeant; Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 361, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, served as Sergeant Major.

Nicholson was promoted to her current rank in November 2017. She was appointed as the CNATTU Cherry Point’s Command Sergeant Major in December 2019.

Nicholson’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (gold star in lieu of third award), and the Outstanding Military Service Medal.
