Lieutenant Commander Jeremiah “JJ” Johnson

Lt. Cmdr. Jeremiah Johnson, a native of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, enlisted in the Navy in 1994 and was commissioned through the Seaman to Admiral Program in 2006 after graduating from Columbia College of Missouri with a Bachelor of Science in Business. 

At sea, Johnson served as electronics technician aboard USS McKee (AS 41) and USS Decatur (DDG 73); radiological controls assistant and damage control assistant aboard USS Boise (SSN 764); navigator aboard USS La Jolla (SSN 701) and USS Helena (SSN 725); tomahawk cruise missile officer aboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) in 2018. 

Johnson’s shore tours included naval tactics instructor for Submarine Learning Facility, Norfolk and instructor at Naval Service Training Command.  

He reported as assistant officer in charge, Submarine Learning Center Det. San Diego, in August 2019. 

Johnson’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards), Navy Good Conduct Medal (four awards), and the Navy Arctic Service Ribbon.
