Master Chief Musician Guy L. Gregg

Master Chief Gregg, a native of Phoenix, Arizona, enlisted in the Navy in May 1993. Upon graduation from recruit training, he attended the basic music course at the Naval School of Music and began his career as a trumpet instrumentalist. 

His duty assignments have included the U.S. Naval Forces Europe Band, U.S. Fleet Forces Band, U.S. 7th Fleet Band, and most recently as the assistant director and senior enlisted leader for the U.S. Pacific Fleet Band. 

Gregg has deployed significantly throughout Asia and Africa supporting multilateral exercises, enhancing theater security cooperation initiatives, and promoting humanitarian assistance disaster relief to include Africa Partnership Station, Pacific Partnership, Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training, and numerous maritime training and naval engagement activities. 

Gregg assumed the duties as command master chief and senior instructor for the Naval School of Music on Feb. 14, 2020. 

Gregg is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 168) and Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course (Class 151). He received his Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts from Excelsior College. His military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards) and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards).
