Lieutenant Commander Benjamin Parks

Lt. Cmdr. Benjamin Parks, a Pacific Northwest native, was accepted into the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate Program while pursuing an Electrical Engineering degree at Texas A&M University.  Upon graduation, he attended Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida, where he was commissioned in September 2006. He earned a master’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Nebraska in 2013.
 
Following Nuclear Power School and Prototype training in Charleston, South Carolina, he reported to USS Bremerton (SSN 698) based at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.  He completed multiple deployments, serving as electrical officer, damage control assistant and assistant weapons officer, and qualified as a submarine warfare officer and naval nuclear engineer.
Parks supported nuclear-powered, ballistic missile-carrying submarine plans and operations at U.S. Strategic Command in Omaha, Nebraska from 2011-2013.  He transferred to the cryptologic warfare community in 2012.

He reported to Navy Information Operations Command (NIOC) at Fort Meade, Maryland in 2013, where he served as an interactive operator on the National Security Agency’s Red Team.  During this tour, he served as a NIOC assistant department head and earned multiple cybersecurity certifications.

In 2016, he reported to the Pentagon as the deputy executive assistant to the deputy chief of naval operations, warfare systems. He served in this position until transferring in 2018 to be the cryptologic resource coordinator for Expeditionary Strike Group 7, which was forward deployed in Okinawa, Japan. 

Parks currently serves as executive officer, Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit Keesler, Mississippi.
