Command Master Chief Theodore J. McKinney

Command Master Chief Theodore McKinney, a native of Stow, Ohio, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1999, and after boot camp at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, he attended Builder “A” School at Naval Construction Training Center (NCTC) Gulfport, Mississippi. He graduated from the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course (213) and the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Brown Group 190).  

His operational assignments include Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 40, where he deployed to Guam, United Kingdom and Diego Garcia; Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit 303, where he supported disaster relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina; Joint Task Force 34 Horn of Africa as the country engineer for Yemen and Kenya; NMCB-5, where he deployed to Afghanistan twice and Spain; NCTC Port Hueneme as the Charlie company department chief and command training chief; NMCB-5 as the Air Detachment senior enlisted leader; NMCB-3 as the Charlie/Delta Company department chief; Naval Construction Group 1 as the command operations chief; and NMCB-4 as the command master chief.

McKinney reported to NCTC Port Hueneme as the command master chief in January 2021.

He is designated a specialist in Seabee combat and expeditionary warfare. His personal decorations include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (six awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards) and various other campaign and service awards.
