Commander Andrew Roy

Cmdr. Roy, a native of Peachtree City, Georgia, graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in History and earned a Master of Science in Leadership and Human Resource Development from the Naval Postgraduate School.
At sea, Roy served as first lieutenant aboard USS Paul Hamilton (DDG 60); training officer aboard USS Princeton (CG 59); operations officer aboard USS Stout (DDG 55); operations officer for Destroyer Squadron 60; and executive officer and then commanding officer of USS Pinckney (DDG 91).  During Roy’s command tour, the Pinckney earned the Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendation and Special Operations Service ribbon during the ship’s 2020 counternarcotics deployment to the U.S. 4th Fleet area of responsibility.
Ashore, Roy served as company officer for the 14th Company at the U.S. Naval Academy; flag aide to the commander of Naval Forces Europe/Africa and Joint Forces Command Naples; a China policy analyst and aide-de-camp to the commander at U.S. Pacific Command; and as a commander/lieutenant commander detailer at Navy Personnel Command (PERS-41).
Roy reported to Surface Warfare Schools Command (SWSC) in December 2020 as the director of the Prospective Commanding Officer Course.  He assumed duties as SWSC’s executive officer in June 2021.
