Captain Steven G. Beall

Capt. Beall, a native of Houston, Texas, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in June 1986. He attended basic training at Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Florida, with subsequent training at Naval Technical Training Center, Pensacola, Florida.

His initial fleet assignment was aboard USS New Orleans (LPH-11) in San Diego, California, where he completed a five-year tour that included three Western Pacific deployments and one deployment in support of Operation Desert Storm/Desert Shield.  After volunteering for explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) training in 1992, he was assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 2, where he deployed aboard USS Detroit (AOE-4) and USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74).

Beall received his commission as an ensign through the Limited Duty Officer Program in 2000.

His tours included service with EODMU 3 as officer in charge (OIC) of the MK4 Marine Mammal Detachment and Mobile Detachment 1, forward deploying with USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.  He served with EODMU 8 Detachment Bahrain; EODMU 4 Detachment 2, 4, and 6 as OIC, completing three tours of duty to Iraq; EOD Detachment Earle, New Jersey as OIC, where he deployed as the Combined Explosive Exploitation Cell OIC for Commander Task Force Paladin in Afghanistan; EODMU 2 as the readiness and training officer; and EOD Group (EODGRU) 2 twice as readiness and training officer. He was assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Training and Evaluation Unit 2 as executive officer from July 2011 until August 2013 and as commanding officer from August 2014 to October 2017.  His last tour was as Navy Expeditionary Combat Command N7 director of training.

Beall assumed command of Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal in August 2021.

Beall’s personal awards include the Bronze Star Medal with valor (two awards), Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Army Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), combat action award and various campaign, service medals and unit awards.
