Commander Shawn Collins

Cmdr. Shawn Collins, a native of Tucson, Arizona, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1989 and was commissioned via the limited duty officer program in 2004. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics with a minor in Management.  Designated an Acquisition Corps member, he is certified in Life Cycle Logistics and Production, Quality and Manufacturing.
 
His fleet operational assignments include Fighter Squadron (VF) 32, Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department (AIMD) Jacksonville (Sea Operational Detachment); AIMD USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67); Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 22; AIMD USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75); and AIMD USS Iwo Jima (LHD-7).
 
Ashore, Collins served at AIMD Norfolk, Virginia; AIMD Mayport, Florida; Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light (HSL) 48, Mayport, Florida; Fleet Readiness Center Southeast, Jacksonville, Florida; Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training (CNATT), Pensacola, Florida; and Naval Air Technical Training Center (NATTC), Pensacola, Florida..
  
Collins currently serves as the officer in charge at CNATT Detachment Whiting Field, Milton, Florida.

 His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal (eight awards), the Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards) and various unit and campaign awards. During his career he has earned the Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist and Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist designations, as well as his Professional Aviation Maintenance Officer Warfare insignia. He was recognized as AIMD Jacksonville Sea Sailor of the Year in 1998, AIMD Mayport Shore Sailor of the Yea in 2001, and as HSL-48 Maintenance Officer of the Year in 2009.
