PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Supreme congratulations to Petty Officer 1st Class Kimber Dominguez, currently serving at Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit Lemoore, who was recently selected as the FY19 Shore Sailor of the Year.

Dominguez, an aviation ordnanceman instructor at CNATTU Lemoore, expressed her thoughts on being selected for such a prestigious honor.

“I feel blessed and humbled to be named CNO Shore Sailor of the Year,” Dominguez said.  “This journey has been an experience of a lifetime! I have met many deserving first class petty officers throughout this process. The award is a direct reflection of all the hard work put in by my peers and Sailors. I am grateful for my mentors who have guided me throughout my career.”

MyNavyHR Team leaders seized the opportunity to heap praise on Dominguez for her accomplishments.

“AO1 Dominguez is the most driven professional I have had the privilege to serve with in 33 years,” Cmdr. Ronnie Harper Jr., CNATTU Lemoore commanding officer, said.  “She cares as much about her shipmates as her job and does everything in her power to make sure the Sailors and Marines that she leads are living up to her incredibly high standard.  She is the consummate professional, who is an outstanding role model for all to emulate.  We are very lucky to have her on our team.  She is the total package!”

Capt. Bryant Hepstall, CNATT commanding officer, echoed the sentiments about Dominguez.

"What an exceptional accomplishment for this young Sailor," Hepstall said.

Dominguez being selected as Shore Sailor of the Year was not a surprise to Rear Adm. John Nowell, chief of naval personnel.

“AO1 Dominguez truly impressed me during our MyNavy HR Sailor of the Year selection process and I was not surprised to hear she rose to the top of the competition at the Navy wide level,” Nowell said.  “AO1 Dominguez, you have represented us well, and on behalf of our team we are so proud of you.”

Dominguez, not resting on her laurels, said she has set goals to continuously grow as a leader and enable others to seek their full potential.   She will be meritoriously advanced to chief petty officer.

CNATT’s mission is to develop, deliver, and support aviation training necessary to meet validated Fleet requirements. Its mission aligns perfectly with MyNavy HR Pillar 1, Force Development, ensuring Sailors and Marines are equipped with the specific skills they need to do their jobs and having access to career enhancement opportunities.

CNATT also is a technical training agent for the Naval Aviation Enterprise, an organization designed to sustain required current readiness and advance future warfighting capabilities at best possible cost.
