Senior Chief Henry Guerrero, a native of San Fernando, California, joined the Navy in April 1996 and completed Mineman “A” School in Ingleside, Texas at the Mine Warfare Training Center (MWTC). He earned his enlisted surface warfare qualification in April 2006.
Guerrero’s sea duty assignments include USS Warrior (MCM 10) where he deployed to U.S. 5th Fleet and conducted mine clearance operations. While aboard, he was present during the first successful male and female integrated crew within the mine hunter coastal force. In 2006, he was selected for the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) program and became a crewmember and plank owner of USS Freedom (LCS 1). During this tour, he became a combat systems department leading petty officer (LPO) of Blue Crew, Detachment 2. In 2012, he transferred to Commander Mobile Mine Assembly Group and in 2015, he rotated back to U.S. 5th Fleet to be a LPO aboard USS Scout (MCM 8) where he achieved the rank of chief petty officer. Upon promotion to chief, he transferred to Commander, Task Force 52 in Bahrain.
Ashore, Guerrero served as the assistant first lieutenant at Chief of Naval Air Training in Corpus Christi, Texas and recruiter for Naval Recruiting Command in Los Angeles, California.
He reported to MWTC in October 2018 as the command senior enlisted leader.
Guerrero’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (eight awards), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal (two awards) and various unit, campaign and service awards.
