MISSION

The mission of the NETC Inspector General (IG) (N00G) is to provide sound, impartial advice to the commander, Naval Education and Training Command (NETC), and to provide assistance to organizations and individuals so that NETC can maintain the highest levels of readiness, effectiveness, efficiency, integrity, and public confidence.

STRATEGIC GOALS

NETC strategic goals set the course for continued transformation and improvement in alignment with the secretary of the Navy, chief of naval operations, and chief of naval personnel initiatives. The IG is focused on the internal processes that enable NETC and its subordinate commands and activities to accomplish the mission of recruiting civilians off the street and delivering trained Sailors to the fleet in the most efficient and effective manner, while maintaining the highest possible quality of life for our personnel.

PROGRAMS

The NETC IG performs a variety of functions with the goal of making NETC a more responsive and responsible organization that effectively and efficiently carries out its mission and takes care of its people, including:

  • Command Inspections: Assists commanders and commanding officers to improve the performance, readiness, efficiency, effectiveness and quality of life of the commands and activities for which they are responsible. Command inspections provide mission-relevant evaluations and recommendations that are timely, accurate, candid, and objective.
  • Hotline Complaint Investigations and Special Inquiries: Investigates or inquires into reported matters of fraud, waste, abuse and related improprieties within NETC. Provides assistance to all personnel by directing them to the appropriate complaint process or support organization.
  • Command Evaluation and Audit Liaison/Follow Up: Provides commanders, commanding officers and directors unbiased and unfiltered feedback from independent command evaluations or audits concerning command operations. Serves as the initial contact point for external auditors desiring entry into NETC.
  • Managers’ Internal Control Program: Provides commanders and commanding officers a process to receive feedback from individual managers as to the adequacy of the internal controls used to safeguard command work processes.
