IWTC Monterey logoInformation Warfare Training Command (IWTC) Monterey  is one of four commands for the Center for Information Warfare Training (CIWT), a learning center for Naval Education and Training Command. With a specialized focus on language training, our students attend the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center at the Army’s Presidio of Monterey.

We are also in charge of these learning sites:
We provide a continuum of foreign language training to Navy personnel that prepares them to conduct information warfare across the full spectrum of military operations.

About 800 students attend language courses annually with a focus on Navy linguists, the special warfare community, Personnel Exchange Program (PEP), and foreign area officers (FAO).

The most common languages studied are:
  • Persian Farsi
  • Arabic and dialects
  • Chinese
  • Korean
  • Spanish
  • Russian
