CENEODDIVE Detachment Great Lakes (CENEODDIVE DET GLKS), located aboard Naval Station Great Lakes, Illinois is the single-entry point for all enlisted Navy Diver (ND), Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), and Dive Medical Technician (DMT) candidates from both the Recruit Training Command and fleet accessions.  CENEODDIVE DET GLKS accommodates students through 12 high-risk training class convenes per year. The instructional staff is comprised of EOD Technicians, NDs, and DMTs.

Mission
To prepare, assess, and select the most qualified Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), Navy Diver (ND), and Dive Medical Technician (DMT) candidates for a career in the Naval Special Operations (NSO) community through aquatic competency training, classroom instruction, and mental and physical conditioning.
This Mission Statement reflects the 3 things we do here.
  • Prepare: Via classroom, pool, & rigorous daily physical conditioning. Instruction in the pool covers various aquatic competencies, building from basic aquatic comfort (using mask/snorkel) and gradually increasing to advanced aquatic adaptability skills. Physical training includes daily human performance coaching on mental resiliency, strength training form, running, swimming, calisthenics as well as proper rest, recovery, and nutrition.
  • Assess: Numerical assessment of each student in 5 key performance “pillars”:
    1. Comfort in the Water
    2. Physical Fitness
    3. Academic Ability
    4. Professionalism
    5. Peer Ranking
  • Select: Via formal selection board, determine the best qualified and most likely to successfully complete advanced training.
