Cmdr. Jason Juergens, a native of Springfield, Ohio, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in February 1999, and after boot camp at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, he attended Electronics Technician “A” and “C” School. He received his commission through Officer Candidate School in 2001. Juergens earned a Master of Science in Manpower Systems Analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School in 2010 and a Master of Business Administration from Ohio Dominican University in 2008; he earned his bachelor’s degree in Sports Organization from Miami University, Ohio, in 1997.
At sea, Juergens served an enlisted tour aboard USS Peterson (DD 969); as 1st division officer and main propulsion aft plant division officer aboard USS Detroit (AOE 4); as auxiliaries officer and main propulsion assistant aboard USS Underwood (FFG 36); and as training officer aboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75).
His shore tours include as medical programs officer recruiter at Navy Recruiting District Ohio, laterally transferring to the human resources community; technical training director at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois; chief of Navy and Marine Corps Programs at U.S. Central Command (J1); and most recently, he completed a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy with a Supply Chain Management Concentration from the Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy.
Juergens reported as executive officer, Training Support Center, Great Lakes, Illinois, in August 2018.
He has been awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various other unit awards.
