Master Chief White, a native of Monroe, North Carolina, enlisted in the Navy in January 1996. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois, he attended Fire Controlman “A” school at Naval Training Center, Great Lakes and AEGIS Training and Readiness Center (ATRC), Dahlgren, Virginia, as a Fire Controlman Seaman for AEGIS Computer “C” school. White later completed an associate degree in Business Administration from Germanna Community College in Locust Grove, Virginia, and is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 183 Khaki). He is designated a specialist in surface warfare.
At sea, he served aboard USS Paul Hamilton (DDG 60) based at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; Pre-Commissioning Unit Kidd (DDG 100) based at Pascagoula, Mississippi, where he attended Command Career Counselor School and served in Pascagoula and San Diego at various times throughout the pre-commissioning process and through her maiden deployment; and USS Hopper (DDG 70) as the combat systems maintenance manager.
White’s shore tours include service as an instructor at ATRC, where he taught multiple blocks of instruction, became the computer department leading petty officer, and obtained his Master Training Specialist (MTS) certification; and as an instructor at Surface Warfare Officers School, where he selected for the Command Master Chief Program.
His initial command master chief tour was aboard USS Stockdale (DDG 106), and he is currently serving as the command master chief, Naval Aviation Schools Command.
White’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit and campaign awards.
