Commander Kent Davis

Cmdr. Kent Davis, a native of Coupeville, Washington, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in June 1989. In 2003, Davis was commissioned as an ensign under the Limited Duty Officer Program.
 
During his enlisted career, Davis served aboard USS Constellation (CV64), qualifying as an aircraft director; at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island Fire Fighting School in Washington, where he earned his Washington state fire and rescue certificate and qualified as an emergency medical technician; and USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), where he held positions as the crash leading petty officer, V-1 division leading petty officer and flight deck chief. During this tour, he was selected as the Sailor of the Year, Navy League Firefighter of the Year, and the Military Serviceman of the Year.
 
At sea as an officer, his assignments have included USS George Washington (CVN 73), as the air bos’n, where he was awarded the Navy League Junior Officer of the Year; USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) as the flight deck officer, where he was selected as the 2008 Stennis Foundation Leadership Award winner; USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) for his second flight deck officer tour, where he was awarded the 2011 Stennis Foundation Leadership Award (second award); and USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) as the aircraft handling officer, where he completed two deployments and was awarded Navy League Officer of the Year.
 
His shore tours include Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland; Navy Personnel Command, Millington, Tennessee, as the aviation assignments detailer; and Naval Air Forces as the force handler, where he was responsible for the flight deck certifications of 11 aircraft carriers and provided technical expert assessments and evaluation to more than 4,500 air department personnel.
 
Currently, Davis serves as the executive officer, Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit North Island.
