Master Chief Wotus, a native of Corry, Pennsylvania, graduated from Corry Area High School in 1993 and enlisted in the Navy. His military education includes Storekeeper “A” School in Meridian, Mississippi, and Diver Second Class, Diver First Class, and Master Diver courses in Panama City, Florida. He holds an Associate of Arts in General Studies from Central Texas College, Killeen, Texas and an associate degree in welding technology through Palomar College, San Marcos, Texas.  He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 242), qualified as a master diver and designated a specialist in expeditionary warfare.

Wotus’ sea and shore duties include: USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) at Norfolk Virginia; Naval Station (NAVSTA) Roosevelt Roads in Puerto Rico; Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility, at Pearl Harbor Hawaii; Seal Delivery Vehicle Team One (SDVT-1) at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit (MDSU) 1 at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; Explosive Ordnance Disposal Expeditionary Support Unit One (EODESU-1) at San Diego, California; Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group One (EODGRU-1) at San Diego, California; Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC) at San Diego, California; and Center for Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Diving (CENEODDIVE) at Panama City, Florida.

He assumed the duties of Command Master Chief of Naval Diving and Salvage Training Center on Aug. 17, 2021.

His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (one award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (seven awards), and various other campaign and service awards.
