Captain Lance Thompson

Capt. Lance Thompson received his commission following completion of a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University. He earned his master’s in Engineering Management from Southern Methodist University in 2002. 

At sea, Thompson served as a division officer aboard USS Maine (SSBN 741); engineer officer aboard USS Rhode Island (SSBN 740); executive officer aboard USS Jefferson City (SSN 759) and commanding officer aboard USS Chicago (SSN 721). 

Thompson’s shore tours include as instructor for Naval Nuclear Power Training Command; junior officer for nuclear propulsion examining board Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet; operational officer for the Secretary of Defense; deputy mission readiness for Submarine Squadron 15; tactical readiness officer for Commander, Submarine Forces, U.S. Pacific Fleet and deputy training officer for Submarine Squadron 1 in Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. 

He is currently serving as commanding officer of Naval Submarine Training Center Pacific.
