Master Chief Laube, a native of Boone, Iowa, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1998. Laube’s military training and certification includes diver second class in 1998, diver first class in 2002, and master diver in 2012. Laube is also entitled to wear the enlisted submarine group pin. Upon promotion to master chief in 2017, Laube was selected for the Command Master Chief (CMC) program. In 2019 he attended the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 224) and the CMC/COB Course in Newport, Rhode Island.

Laube’s assignments have included Shore Intermediate Maintenance Activity; SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team (SDVT) 1 in Pearl City, Hawaii; SDVT-2 in Virginia Beach, Virginia; and Naval Diving and Salvage Training Center (NDSTC) in Panama City Beach, Florida, as a high-risk instructor. After reaching the pinnacle of the diving community by obtaining the master diver qualification, he served aboard USS Frank Cable (AS-40) in Apra Harbor, Guam, as a master diver; with Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit 2 in Virginia Beach, Virginia, as Company 2-1 master diver; and aboard USNS Grapple (T-ARS 53), deploying to the U.S. Africa Command area of responsibility. For his last tour, he took hot-fill orders as command master diver at NDSTC and assumed the duties of CMC of NDSTC on Oct. 15, 2019.

He reported to Center for Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Diving as CMC on Sept. 22, 2021.

Laube’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (seven awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), and various campaign, service and unit awards.
