Lieutenant Commander Joseph T. Jones

Lt. Cmdr. Joseph Jones, a native of Griffin, Georgia, enlisted in the Navy in 1999. Upon graduation from basic training, he attended and completed information systems technician (IT) “A” School in Great Lakes, Illinois. Jones has completed Global Command and Control System - Maritime (GCCS-M), journeyman network core/information systems administration, and advanced network analyst “C” Schools. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from State University of New York, located in Buffalo, and a Master of Science in Human Resource Management from Troy University in Troy, Alabama. Jones was promoted to ensign and commissioned through the limited duty officer program in 2010. He was re-designated as an information professional (IP) officer in 2015. He has completed Joint Professional Military Education Phase 1 is a CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner and is Security+ certified.

His operational assignments include C5I deck manager and lead inspector for the Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV); flag communications officer (COMMO) for the Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group; N6 staff COMMO for the USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) Amphibious Readiness Group; and information assurance manager for the USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74). 

Ashore, he served as the flag satellite communications officer, space liaison officer, and automated data processing officer (ADPO) at Fleet Cyber Command/10th Fleet; and staff COMMO, ADPO, and electronic key management system manager for Naval Forces Korea, where he provided, maintained and ensured command, control, communications, computers and intelligence (C4I) fleet technical support throughout the Republic of Korea.

Jones assumed duties as the executive officer of Information Warfare Training Command Virginia Beach in August 2022, .

His personal decorations include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), Good Conduct Medal, as well as several campaign and service awards. He is qualified as an INSURV inspector, staff tactical action officer; space cadre (VS 7), combat information center watch officer, information assurance/cyber officer, information warfare officer and IP intermediate.
