Commander Joseph D. Tindell

Cmdr. Joseph D. Tindell, a native of Tampa, Florida, graduated from Florida International University with a bachelor’s degree in Education and later received a master’s degree in Business Management and Leadership from Webster University.  He earned his commission through Officer Candidate School in 2001.

His operational assignments include line division officer, aircraft division officer, material control officer and quality assurance officer at Strike Fighter Squadron 151, where he deployed aboard USS Constellation (CV- 64); quality assurance officer and maintenance material control officer at Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron 4; assistant maintenance officer at Patrol Squadron 10. His assignments supported multiple combat operations including Operation Southern Watch, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Martillo.

Ashore, he served as support equipment division officer, AIRSpeed officer, legal officer and quality assurance officer at Fleet Readiness Center Southeast (FRCSE); officer in charge (OIC) at FRCSE Detachment Key West; training officer and OIC at FRCSE Detachment Mayport; maintenance officer at Naval Aviation Warfighting Development Center; deputy director of training and director of functional integration at Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training (CNATT).

Tindell reported to CNATT Detachment Eglin Air Force Base as OIC in July 2024.

He is designated an aviation maintenance duty officer. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and numerous other unit and campaign awards.
