Captain Michael A. Polito

Capt. Michael A. Polito, a native of Long Island, New York, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1985 and earned his commission in 2001 through Officer Candidate School. He graduated from Naval Post Graduate School in 2018 with a master’s degree in System Analysis and in 2006 with a Master of Business Administration; Chapman University in 2002 with a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership; Southern Illinois University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in Education; and Vincennes University in 1997 with an Associate of Arts.
 
His operational assignments include quality assurance officer (QAO), material control officer (MCO) and aviation maintenance officer (AMO) at Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 134; IM-4, IM-2 then IM-3 division officer aboard USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 74); AMO and maintenance material control officer (MMCO) at Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron (VQ) 2; and AMO and MMCO aboard USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74).

Ashore, he served as maintenance training officer and legal officer at Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit (CNATTU) Whidbey Island; 600 division officer, maintenance officer (MO) and executive officer at Fleet Readiness Center Northwest; lead aviation readiness analyst in the force generation branch of OPNAV N81 supporting the Chief of Naval Operations in future year defense planning with independent analytical assessments of Navy and Marine Corps flying hour program, aircraft and engine depot maintenance, aviation logistics and air systems support accounts worth over $11 billion; officer in charge at Fleet Readiness Center Southeast; AMDO community detailer at Naval Personnel Command; and N43 director of current readiness at U.S. Fleet Forces Command.

He reported to Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training as executive officer in November 2023.
 
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (seven awards) and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards).
