Maj. John B. Martin. a native of Georgia, graduated in 2014 from Georgia College & State University with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He completed Basic School in November 2014 and then reported to Naval Station Newport, Rhode Island, to complete Basic Aviation Supply Officer Course. He graduated from the Florida Institute of Technology in 2017 with a Master of Science in Logistics Management. He was commissioned through the Platoon Leaders Class.

Upon graduation from his military occupational specialty school in May 2015, he was assigned to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS) 26. In July 2016, he deployed to Moron Air Base in Spain with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 266 where he served as the Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron Detachment officer in charge in support of SPMAGTF-CR-AF 16.2. Returning from deployment in February 2017, he transferred back to MALS-26 where he served as the assistant operations officer.

He departed MALS-26 in June 2018 and reported to Quantico, Virginia, where he attended Expeditionary Warfare School.

In June 2019, he reported to Recruiting Station Nashville, Tennessee, where he served as the operations officer and the executive officer. After completing a successful recruiting tour, he returned to MALS-26 in July 2022 where he served as the assistant aviation supply officer and the squadron executive officer.

He reported to Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit New River, North Carolina as executive officer in June 2024.

His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards).
