Master Chief Petty Officer Augustine U. Ilomuanya

Master Chief Petty Officer Augustine U. Ilomuanya, a native of Nigeria, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in November 1998. He completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes Illinois, followed by Aviation Support Equipment Technician “A” school in Pensacola, Florida. He is a graduate of Navy’s Senior Enlisted Academy, class 255V (Blue Group) and CMC/COB Class 26020. He obtained a master’s degree in Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental Management from Columbian Southern University.

He reported to his first sea duty assignment at Aviation Intermediate Maintenance Department, Whidbey Island, Washington, later renamed Fleet Readiness Center Northwest, serving in the sea duty component, Van Operational Detachment.  He completed multiple expeditionary logistics deployments in Sembach Germany and Incirlik Airbase Turkey. His other sea duty assignments include USS Essex (LHD 2) homeport in Sasebo Japan, USS NIMITZ (CVN 68), USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) and USS Makin Island (LHD 8). During the tour, he completed multiple deployments in the 5th and 7th fleet, supporting various operations and exercise, including operations Iraqi Freedom, Northern Edge, Octave Quartz, Inherent Resolve, Northern Watch, and Humanitarian services.  

His shore duty assignments include COMFAIRWESTPAC Atsugi, Japan, Fleet Readiness Center Southwest, San Diego California, and Fleet Readiness Center Northwest, Whidbey Island. 

 He reported in September 2025 to serve as senior enlisted leader at Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit North Island.

His awards include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation (four awards), Navy Achievement Medal (five awards), Military Volunteer Service Medal and various campaigns, unit and service awards.
