Staff Check-in
Welcome to the Center for Naval Technical Training Unit (CNATTU) North Island. As you may know, we provide the fleet initial and career maintenance technical training for the H-60 F/H/R/S Helicopters, Consolidated Automated Support System (CASS), Support Equipment, and many other courses. The command is comprised of Navy and Marine Corps instructors and staff members. CNATTU North Island's annual student throughput is over 3,500 students, with most of them transferring to one of the squadrons stationed at
Naval Air Station (NAS) North Island
. I am confident that you will find your tour of duty with us both challenging and rewarding.
The following may be useful for you and your family members.
Government transportation is no longer offered to and from San Diego International. The use of a commercial cab company is authorized on your PCS orders to/from CNATTU North Island and to/from the San Diego International. Once you arrive at the base during working hours (7 a.m. – 4 p.m.) have the driver bring you to Building 698. After working hours please have them bring you to Gateway Inn and Suites or the Navy Lodge if you need berthing quarters until your housing is ready. You will get reimbursed for your travel when you process your travel claim with Admin as long as you keep your receipt. The air station is located approximately 15 minutes from the airport.
If you are driving, the following routes are suggested.
Via Northern California, Interstate 5 South to CA-75, once off the bridge stay on 3rd Ave until the gate.
Via East of San Diego, take Interstate 8 west to Interstate 5 South to CA-75 once off the bridge stay on 3rd Ave until the gate.
Building 698 is on the corner of Stockdale and Rogers next to the McDonald’s.

TRANSPORTATION
Government transportation is available from San Diego International. Students coming from Pensacola or other Command are encouraged to call TSC Duty Office before departure (619) 545-8292. Once you arrive at San Diego International, contact the Duty Office. REPORTING ONBOARD
Marines will report in their service “A” uniform, and Sailors will report in the uniform of the day or Navy Service Uniform. Marines and Sailors will adhere to grooming standards (men with a fresh haircut and clean shaven) and wear pressed uniforms. Report directly to TSC, building 698. You will attend INDOC at TSC on your reporting day at 6:30am, and if your class starts that day, then you will proceed to your MTU for instruction by 12:00pm.
REQUIRED ITEMS FOR CHECK IN: When reporting in you will have your medical records, dental records, service record, and original orders with you.
UNIFORMS
Marines and Sailors are required to report with a complete sea bag. Unless otherwise directed, Marines and Sailors will wear service uniforms or NWUs while attending classroom instruction.
