Senior Chief Aviation Electronics Technician Patrick D. Cohen

Senior Chief Aviation Electronics Technician Patrick D. Cohen, a native of Barnegat, New Jersey, enlisted in the U.S. Navy and attended basic training in Great Lakes, Illinois in June 2006. Upon completion of recruit training, he attended aviation electronics technician (AT) “A” School in San Diego, California, in October 2006. After graduating from “A” school, he went on to attend the SH-60B “C” School at Naval Air Station North Island, San Diego, California, in March 2007. He earned his associate degree in general studies from Columbia College, Missouri, in August 2019.

In March 2007, he reported to Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light (HSL) 47 in San Diego. While there, he was assigned to the 210 Work Center in the AV/ARM Division and assigned to Detachment Two and Five as the Lead AT, where he earned his Work center 210/230/310 CDQAR and R&C (Release and Control) check team leader. In 2009, HSL-47 transitioned to Helicopter Submarine Maritime Squadron (HSM) 77. He also earned his aviation warfare specialist qualification.
 
In June 2011, he reported to Fleet Readiness Center West in Lemoore, California. While onboard he was assigned to the consolidated automated support system family of testers work center. He served as the work center supervisor and assistant leading petty officer (LPO).
 
In December 2014, he reported to Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 97, Lemoore. He advanced to petty officer first class in November 2014.  He served as the Integrated Weapons Team LPO, work center 210 LPO and as a full systems quality assurance representative.
 
He reported to Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit (CNATTU) Oceana, Virginia, in February 2019. In August 2019, he was selected for chief petty officer. He took over as MTU-1041 leading chief petty officer (CPO) in January 2022. In May 2022, he was selected for senior chief petty officer. While onboard, he has been the CPO for several aviation rates and temporarily served as the senior enlisted leader from August 2024 to September 2024.

He began serving as senior enlisted leader at CNATTU Oceana in May 2025.
 
His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), Flag Letter of Commendation, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Navy “E” Battle Efficiency Ribbon (three awards) and various campaign and service ribbons.
