Chief Warrant Officer 5 Larry C. Martin

Chief Warrant Officer 5 Larry C. Martin, a native of Erie, Michigan, enlisted into the U.S. Navy in March 1993 and after boot camp at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, he attended and completed apprenticeship training. He was selected for chief warrant officer in 2013 and commissioned in April 2014, as a chief warrant officer 3. He graduated from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in June 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in aeronautics and Brandman University in October 2019 with a master’s degree in organizational leadership. 

His enlisted assignments include Helicopter Anti-Submarine Light (HSL) 47, where he deployed aboard USS Olendorf (DD 972) and USS MCClusky (FFG 41); Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron (HS) 10, where he served as mid-check supervisor; HSL-43, where he served as safe-for-flight and leading petty officer for Detachment 4, and deployed twice aboard USS Antietam (CG 54); Center for Aviation Technical Training Unit (CNATTU) North Island, California, where he served as a branch chief and senior instructor; USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), where he served as leading senior chief petty officer for intermediate maintenance two and three; HSL-49, where he served as maintenance control supervisor; Helicopter Sea Combat Sea Squadron (HSC) 6, where he served as maintenance control master chief and deployed aboard USS Nimitz (CVN 68). 

His officer assignments include USS Essex (LHD 2), where he served as assistant maintenance officer (AMO); HSC-8, where he served as division officer and maintenance material control officer (MMCO) and deployed aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71); HSC-25, where he served as AMO, MMCO and detachment maintenance officer aboard USS America (LHA 6).

He reported CNATT Detachment Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, as officer-in-charge in October 2023.

His personal awards and accomplishments include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (six awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (eight awards); and other service and unit awards. He is qualified enlisted aviation warfare specialist, enlisted surface warfare specialist, master training specialist and professional aviation maintenance officer. He was recognized as Instructor of the Year 2005 for CNATTU North Island, CNATT, and Naval Education and Training Professional Development Center; and the 2022 Officer of the Year for HSC-25.
