Commander Amy J. Honek

Cmdr. Amy Honek is a native of San Pedro, California and a 2003 graduate of the University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. She was commissioned through the U.S. Navy Officer Candidate School in January 2004 in Pensacola, Florida. She holds a Master of Engineering in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Maryland.

Her expeditionary tours include an assignment to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 133 as engineering officer and assistant company commander to Bravo/Charlie Company. During this tour she served as assistant officer in charge of Detail Camp Buehring in Kuwait and officer in charge of Detail Pacific Partnership. In her previous assignment, she was the operations officer for Amphibious Construction Battalion One in Coronado, California.

Her shore assignments include customer service, transportation and special events officer at Public Works Department Annapolis and utilities and energy management officer; northern region accessions officer for the Civil Engineer Corps; assistant public works officer, Public Works Department Naples; deputy director Facilities Management Division and Facilities Engineering & Acquisition division director, Public Works Department Joint Base Anacostia Bolling; program manager at the Naval Facilities Engineering Command Expeditionary Programs Office; and Facilities Engineering & Acquisition division director, Public Works Department Coronado.

Currently, she serves as the executive officer of Center for Seabees and Facilities Engineering and Civil Engineering Corps Officers School in Port Hueneme, California.

She is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Illinois, a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps and qualified as a Seabee Combat Warfare officer. Her personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards) and other personal, service, and unit awards. She was recognized as the 2018 Naval Facility (NAVFAC) Southwest Military Engineer of the Year.
