Commander Barcley W. Stamey

Cmdr. Barcley Stamey is a native of Winnemucca, Nevada, and a 1998 valedictorian graduate from Albert M. Lowry High School.  He graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in systems engineering and commissioned as ensign in 2002. Following graduation, he reported to NAS Pensacola, Florida to attend flight school and earned his “Wings of Gold” as a naval flight officer in 2004.  He is a 2008 graduate of the U.S. Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) Adversary Course.
 
Stamey’s operational assignments include tours with Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 102 in Atsugi, Japan in the F/A-18F Super Hornet and deployed aboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63); 441st Air Expeditionary Advisory Squadron in Kandahar, Afghanistan as an air advisor to the Afghan Air Force; again with VFA-102 as the administrative, maintenance, and operations officer, qualifying as Strike Lead and deploying aboard USS George Washington (CVN-73) and USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76); and Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 4 as the opposition force air lead for all certification exercises. 
 
Ashore, he was assigned to Air Test and Evaluation Squadron (VX) 9 as the F/A-18 software configuration set program director; Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California where he earned a Master of Arts degree in homeland security and defense; and most recently, Strike Fighter Weapons School Atlantic (SFWSL) as the operations officer while also providing essential close air support training to Special Warfare Development Group (DEVGRU).
 
Stamey is currently serving as the executive officer for Navy Service Support Advanced Training Command, at NAS Oceana Dam Neck Annex, Virginia Beach, Virginia.
 
He has accumulated over 2,500 hours of flight time in various aircraft including the T-34 Turbo Mentor, T-39 Saberliner, T-2 Buckeye, and the F/A-18F Super Hornet.  He has completed combat deployments in the U.S. 5th and 7th Fleet areas of responsibility and has led missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
 
Stamey’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Air Force Commendation Medal, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, in addition to numerous unit, service, and campaign awards.
